April 2019 to March 2020

After completion of 12 years of its journey at village Bela, East & West High School has now entered into a new phase of consolidation. The High School was founded at Patna in 1979 by a handful of academicians in concert with persons concerned about the education of the very young. A part of the school shifted to its new abode at village Bela in the year 2000 and new children were admitted from the neighbourhood. Affiliation up to class X was granted by the C.B.S.E., New Delhi in the year 2001 and it was further upgraded to + 2 level in the year 2011. The time has arrived for further quality improvement in all areas of activity of the school.

Faculty Additions:
Four teachers were appointed each in the faculty of Math, Physics, Commerce and Physical Education.

Innovative Teaching Methods:
Besides the classroom teaching, our staff and students have been involved in innovative and creative educational processes. Faculty members have used the following methods to make learning more interesting and challenging: Presentations by students, assignments, project work, field trip, peer teaching, objective tests , vivo voce, quizzes, group discussion, role-play, power point presentations and interactive teaching in the classes.

School Magazine:
Publication of “Pankh” a school magazine was another highlight of the year. Students showed their immense creative and literacy skills by contributing very interesting and informative pieces of writing. The school magazine was edited by a team of students under the guidance of teachers.

Ongoing  Education of Teachers:
Three days teachers training programmes were organized during the summer vacation and the winter vacation in 2019. Apart from the resource persons of the school, some experts from Patna University and schools of Patna were also invited to conduct the training programmes.

School Library:
A new fulltime Librarian was appointed in the month of December 2019 to fill up the vacancy after the departure of previous librarian. More than 300 books were added. However, the school library needs to be further enriched and use of library insisted upon as many rural children in our school do not get sufficient study material at their home.

Games & Sports:
A new PTI was appointed in the month of Sept 2019. More items of games & sports were provided to the children. Annual sports organized in the month of February 2019 was the highlight of the year. Students are very talented in games and sports. They need more training and facilities to hone their skills and win accolades for the school.

Cultural Activities:
The academic session 2019-20 was a year of achievements in the field of cultural activities. Drama festival, entitled “Srijan”, was celebrated to mark the silver Jubilee year of East & West Educational Society under the aegis of which the school is being run. The drama festival was a grand success. Three plays were staged on the school campus and two plays at Premchand Rangshala, Patna. Apart from drama festival, the school organized cultural programmes on all important days like – Independence day, Teachers day, Children’s day and Saraswati pooja.

Science Exhibition:
It was another success story. The students of the school showed their immense talent by making excellent scientific models. They also explained the different scientific principles on which their model functioned. It was a great learning experience.

Transport:
Transport wing is very crucial for the smooth running of the school system. Two buses of the school now need to be replaced by new ones. As of now, the school needs a new bus and a vehicle to bring teachers from Patna. The transport wing of the school is being managed by the PTA.

Summing Up:
The school has come out with creditable performances in all activities scholastic and co-scholastic. It is now poised to break new grounds. The need of the hour is to constantly strive for quality improvement and consolidation
